Welcome to Travel Portugal with Carla! Whether you're planning your first adventure or returning to explore the magic of Lisbon again, you're in the right place. I'm Carla, an independent travel advisor based in Peniche, Portugal, with over 8 years of experience exploring this incredible country. My love for Portugal runs deep—I’ve embraced the language, traditions, and even have a little travel partner tagging along (my 3-year-old son!). Together, my partner and I have uncovered every corner of Lisbon, and I’m so excited to help you do the same.

Lisbon is a city that never stops revealing hidden gems. From cobbled streets dripping with history to trendsetting restaurants, the capital of Portugal has something for everyone. With this guide, I'll show you where to stay, what to eat, and the most authentic experiences you can't miss. Shall we get started?

Transportation from Lisbon Airport

Right off the plane and itching to explore? Here’s how you can get to downtown Lisbon:

  • Airport Transfer: My favourite option. You'll be greeted at the airport by a professional driver holding a sign with your name—no waiting, no hassle. Book your airport transfer here.

  • Uber or Taxi: Uber rides to downtown Lisbon typically cost €10–€20, and taxis are around €15–€30 depending on traffic and your destination.

  • Metro (Train): For the budget-conscious traveler, the metro costs just €1.80. It’ll take about 20 minutes, but make sure to know your stop in advance. Check out the [metro map here](#).

Where to Stay in Lisbon

Choosing a great neighborhood is key to having a memorable Lisbon experience. Here are my top picks:

  • Chiado: Trendy and central with great shopping and cafes. Perfect for first-timers!

  • Alfama: The historic heart of the city with its maze of cobbled streets and incredible views.

  • Príncipe Real: A chic, upscale vibe with boutique shops and leafy parks.

  • Baixa and Cais do Sodré: Vibrant areas with easy access to nearly everything.

Avoid neighborhoods like Martim Moniz and Intendente, which might not feel as comfortable or safe.
